Longitudinal direction tab

Definition of the longitudinal section of the bridge, spans and piers.

Span tab

Used to manage spans.

SettingDescription
Current Span Allows the selection of the span to be edited. It can also be selected by clicking on the respective span in the main window.
Number of spans Set number of spans (when number of piers and spans were both zero, it will also set number of piers to number of spans - 1).
Length of span Length of the current span. The dimension is drawn in blue color in the main window.
Note: Changes in length are not taken over automatically in the table. The function Adjust table can be used for performing this.
Horiz. part at begin Horizontal part at the beginning of the span. It is denoted as dx[number]beg in the table (e.g., for span 1 it is dx1beg). The dimension is drawn in blue color in the main window.
Horiz. part at end Horizontal part at end the of the span. It is denoted as dx[number]end in the table (e.g., for span 1 it is dx1end). The dimension is drawn in blue color in the main window.
Subdivisions at begin Number of subdivisions at dx[number]beg.
Subdivision at end Number of subdivisions at dx[number]end.
Closure (begin/end) Definition of the position and length of the closure pour segment between two cantilevers. The begin of the closure element is entered in the upper edit box, the end of it in the lower edit box. The distances refer to the actual span and are measured from its beginning.
Copy current span to others Copy the contents of the current span to all others.

Spans can also be inserted before and after the currently selected one or be deleted by using the respective icons.

Pier tab

Used to manage piers.

SettingDescription
Current pier Allows the selection of the pier to be edited. It can also be selected by clicking on the respective pier in the main window.
Number of piers Set number of piers (when number of piers and spans were both zero, it will also set number of spans to number of piers + 1).
Height of pier Height of the current pier. The dimension is drawn in blue color in the main window.
Copy current pier to others Copy the contents of the current pier to all others.

Piers can also be inserted before and after the currently selected one or be deleted by using the respective icons.

Cross-section height table

This table is used to define the variable cross-section height along the stations. An entry can be changed by double-clicking it.

This table is located in the lower, right side of the tab.

Column name Description
Station Station for the definition of a certain height. There can also be used the variables for the horizontal parts at the begin and end of each span (dx[number]beg and dx[number]end). The selected station is drawn in blue color in the main window.
Height Height of the cross section at the corresponding station of the girder.
Interpolation Specification of the interpolation type between the current and the next station in the table. There are four types of interpolation available:
  • Linear – linear
  • Parab. h'(beg)=0 – parabolic, derivation at the beginning is zero (0)
  • Parab. h'(end)=0 – parabolic, derivation at the end is zero (0)
  • Parab. h'(beg) = h'(end) = 0 – parabolic, derivation at the beginning and end is zero (0)
The type can be switched by double-clicking on it.

Below the table are three icons and one button. It is also possible to invoke these actions by right-clicking in the table and selecting them from popup menu which will appear.

Icon Description
Insert a new row in the table. Station, height and interpolation type have to be specified. It will be automatically sorted to the table by station.
Delete a selected row from the table.
Modify a selected row in the table.
Adjust Table After modifications of the spans have been made, this function is used for adjusting the table to the new parameters. If only changes in span lengths have been performed, the program will ask if only to adjust the table due to this changes (and keep the data of the entered heights) or to create a new table. In the dialogue window, that will appear, the default height can be set and it can be checked, if the stations of the subdivisions entered in the span definitions shall be included.

Main window

The schematic representation of the bridge is shown here. Spans and piers can be selected by clicking on them (see description of spans and piers). Right-click will invoke a pop-up menu where the display of elements and numbers can be switched on and off - Show elements. Free-hand symbols (zooming, moving, etc.) can also be used here.
